Together Helping Kiwi Kids

New Zealand Van Lines are privileged to assist in the transportation of a one-of-a-kind neon sign designed by international RnB singer Kehlani.

Kehlani is a two-time Grammy nominated American singer-songwriter from Oakland, California. Her music tells an honest story of her life, from the pain she has experienced to her triumphs and everything in between. Her honest, confessional approach is what makes her music resonate with her listeners.

The one-of-a-kind half-sun, half-moon neon sign was auctioned with all proceeds going to Eat My Lunch, a not-for-profit organisation that helps provide Kiwi kids with healthy school lunches. Established in 2015 Eat My Lunch has provided over 1.7 million healthy lunches to kids from 77 schools in Auckland and Wellington.

Kehlani told Warner Music, “When I was in school, I couldn’t afford lunch and being able to be provided lunch by the public school system made a difference in my entire life. I was able to focus when I was in class, as when you’re hungry that’s all your thinking about. It’s crazy that there are so many kids that are denied simple things like food. So, if you can make a difference and make sure kids eat before they go home and can’t eat once their home that is the hugest thing in the world.”

With a total of 277 bids, $3,810 was raised which is enough to provide 762 kids with a nutritious lunch.

Geoff Clarke, Head of Sales and Customer Service at Eat My Lunch says, “The auction for Kehlani’s Neon Artwork was so exciting to be a part of. The amount raised gave 762 lunches to Kiwi kids! Eat My Lunch can’t achieve our mission without contributions like this so thank you.”

New Zealand Van Lines, National Sales Manager, Tony Dalton says, “Every child deserves a healthy school lunch and thanks to Warner Music NZ, Kehlani and Eat My Lunch our tamariki will be provided with the fuel they need. New Zealand Van Lines are honoured to assist with such a worthy cause.”
