NZ Van Lines opens the doors in Central Otago to service Queenstown, Cromwell, Wanaka, Alexandra, and surrounding towns.
For over 35 years NZ Van Lines has been servicing the Central Otago and the Lakes Districts from our offices in Dunedin and Invercargill.
We are proud to announce that we are open for business with our brand new facility in Cromwell. NZ Van Lines is Central Lakes’ first full-service relocation and storage facility, offering world-class local, long-distance, storage, and international moving services right in the heart of Central Otago.

Our new and modern ‘state of the art’ office and warehouse building is located at 14 Venning Crescent, Cromwell.
We chose Cromwell because it’s one of the most progressive towns in New Zealand and the strategic transport hub to our most vibrant inland regions. Situated between the Lindis and Haast passes Cromwell has easy access to the primary regional townships of Queenstown, Wanaka, and Alexandra.
Mark Pitcher, Group Managing Director says “After two and a half years of planning, design, and construction, we are delighted to open the doors to our new Central Lakes Branch.
The facility is simply stunning, in line with the surrounding area the building features blend in with the Central lakes look and feel, with polished concrete floors, rusticated signage on the entry plinths, exposed aggregate driveways and tussock grasses that signify you’re in the Queenstown area.
This new branch strengthens our network and opens significant new opportunities in servicing the central lakes districts of Queenstown, Wanaka, Alexandra, Cromwell, and surrounding towns.”
A feature of our new building is the 9m stud height which allows us to stack and store containers three high inside the warehouse, away from both the winter cold and the extreme summer heat. There is also plenty of hardstand space for our super-sized linehaul trucks and container trailers to transit efficiently.
Why Cromwell?
The reasoning for this is straight forward. Over the last two years we have seen significant growth in retirement and lifestyle moving. Kiwis have been selling up and relocating to the Lakes Districts in droves. As the country opens up post covid we expect the tourism, hospitality, wine, and pip fruit sectors to return to full capacity and employment. This can only add to the increased demand we have been experiencing for moving services.
Branch Manager Brendon McLeod commented, “I’ve been working for NZ Van Lines in the deep south of New Zealand for the last 15 years, based in Invercargill. It is an honour to now welcome new and existing clients to experience our Central Otago branch.
We are proud to be the first in town with a full-service facility capable of meeting all our clients’ moving needs, including local, inter-city, export, and import removals, as well as short and long-term storage. It is also fantastic to be able to provide additional job opportunities to the local community.”

We are bringing our full suite of premium moving services right to the doorstep of Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes District customers. What this means is a direct service into and out of the region from anywhere in New Zealand or worldwide. There will be no transhipping or rail connections interrupting the journey.
