Supporting The Professional Theatre Company
At NZ Van Lines, we are passionate supporters of the New Zealand performing arts, and our recent work with The Professional Theatre Co. has been a rewarding experience. We were delighted to assist in transporting a container of 350 chairs from Nelson to Christchurch for the Professional Theatre Company’s latest production, a one-man show MAMIL2:GOMIL (Grumpy Old Man in Lycra) starring Mark Hadlow.
A Unique Theatre Experience
This production is far from a traditional theatre performance. Rather than sitting in the auditorium, the audience sit on the stage and face out into the auditorium which was quite cool and different. This immersive setup creates an engaging atmosphere, allowing the audience to feel connected to the story. It’s a fresh and innovative approach that sets this show apart.
Starring Mark Hadlow, one of New Zealand’s most respected actors, the show offers a hilarious yet insightful take on aging and retirement. Hadlow’s witty, relatable performance is filled with humour and reflection, and he personally engages with the audience after each show, making it truly unforgettable.
Getting Set-Up
The Professional Theatre Company needed a reliable and cost-effective way to bring their seating from Nelson. NZ Van Lines stepped in to transport the chairs to Christchurch and will return them to Nelson once the season concludes.
Dean of NZ Van Lines attended the opening night and commented, “The show was great! At the end of the show Mark Hadlow chats with the audience and it was a proud moment with him personally thanking NZ Van Lines for our contribution.”
