NZ Van Lines Under 11 & 12 Manly Tour Team
This September, the Hutt Old Boys Marist (HOBM) Junior Rugby Football Club embarked on an exciting tour to Manly, Australia. Forty-three young rugby players, along with their adult supporters, had the opportunity to experience international rugby, travel, and immerse themselves in Australian culture.
For over 40 years, Hutt Old Boys Marist Junior Rugby has participated in the Trans-Tasman competition, a tradition that continues to unite young rugby players from New Zealand and Australia. On this year’s tour, the Under-11 and Under-12 teams faced off against the Petersham Junior Rugby Club, Forest Junior Rugby Club, and the Manly Marlins, Sydney’s top Under-12 representative team.
Johnny Johnston, Operations Manager at NZ Van Lines Wellington, reflected on the tour’s success: “All went very well, the entire group loved the experience – from sightseeing and fun days out at Luna Park to being with their billet families. Some wins and losses, but it was all about the entire experience.”
The tour wasn’t just about rugby. It provided an unforgettable opportunity for the young players to learn, grow, and make lasting memories, both on and off the field. NZ Van Lines is proud to have supported this tradition and wishes the Hutt Old Boys Marist Junior RFC continued success in their future endeavours.
