NZ Van Lines Under 11 & 12 Manly Tour Team Heads to Australia
This September 2024, the Hutt Old Boys Marist (HOBM) Junior Rugby football club, a non-profit organisation, is embarking on an exciting junior rugby tour to Manly, Australia. The tour will include 43 young rugby players, accompanied by adult supporters. These tours, which have been running biannually for over 40 years, provide an incredible opportunity for 11- and 12-year-olds to gain experience playing rugby internationally. For many of these children, it’s a great opportunity to travel and experience Australia through sport.
For over 40 years now, Hutt Old Boys and now Hutt Old Boys Marist Junior Rugby have participated in the annual Trans-Tasman competition with the Manly Junior Reps, a tradition that continues to this day. During this year’s tour, the young players will face off against Petersham Junior Rugby Club, Forest Junior Rugby Club, and the Manly Marlins, Sydney’s top representative team for the Under-12 age group.
The tour departs tomorrow, 27th September, and the games are scheduled for Monday, 30th September, Thursday, 3rd October, and Saturday, 5th October. Two teams will be representing the club: one for Under-11s and one for Under-12s.
As they prepare for this exciting journey, we wish the team the best of luck. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn, grow, and create unforgettable memories on and off the field in Sydney.
A special mention to Johnny Johnston, Operations Manager at NZ Van Lines Wellington, and proud father of Riley, who will be partaking in this year’s tour.
NZ Van Lines wishes the Hutt Old Boys Marist Junior RFC all the best on their Manly tour: “We’re proud to be part of this long-standing tradition and wish the team every success and enjoyment as they represent their club on this tour. “
